The Management
St. Joseph's Convent School is a Catholic (Christian) minority institution with NOC from the U.P Govt and affiliated to the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi for class X and XII.
This School was founded by and
managed by the Sisters of Our Lady of Providence, a religious congregation
founded in 1817 in France for the Education of children and for the
empowerment of the poor. It is an independent body under the jurisdiction
of the Bishop of Varanasi Diocese endeavouring to provide quality education
for the Catholic children as well as other good and earnest students who are
ready to abide by the spirit and rule of this institution. We want to give
awareness to the children about their duties & responsibilities as citizens
of India, to remove barriers of culture, creed, caste, class and gender, to
help them to think for themselves & make good and mature decisions, to be
morally responsible, spiritually alert, mentally strong, |
Some special features of our school: St. Joseph’s Convent School has adopted 10 children from the marginalized to give them all the facilities and chances for an education in the school from class L.K.G, till class XII. This is to mark the Silver Jubilee of the sisters of Our Lady of Providence in Varanasi, as the school is managed by this society. To mark the Silver Jubilee of the school from 1982 – 2007, the school has decided to open a Hindi medium school for children from the nearby villages who are unable to get proper education. Classes will be held in the primary section from 12:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. everyday. This is meant to give an opportunity for children of the poorer sections to learn English as a subject as well as to gain knowledge in all other subjects so that they can get a wholesome education with all the facilities provided by the school. Our children and staff are regularly taken to the villages to meet the people who need the support and care of those who have the means to provide them. We have provided a computer and printer to a village school, a hand pump for the Madaris in Maheshpur, a village nearby. About 150 children of the poorer sections are brought to the school on Children’s Day so that they can enjoy the friendship of the teachers and children, participate in some games and be given some prizes and gifts and gradually become part of the mainstream of society. We have an active Parent Teacher Association (PTA) which meets regularly to discuss matters of importance regarding curriculum, extra curricular activities and general welfare of the students. The general Body meets annually and the executive body meets three times a year. Our ex –students are also associated to the school through the Alumni V- Josephians. They also participate in certain activities of the school. They conduct the yearly dandia during Navratri. |
